Therapeutic ultrasound is a modality that has been used by physiotherapists since the 1940s. Ultrasound is applied using a probe that is placed on your skin with a sterile gel. Therapeutic ultrasound has been shown to:
- Increase healing rates
- Promote tissue relaxation
- Increase tissue temperature
- Increase local blood flow
- Breakdown scar tissue
- Decrease pain sensation
- Decrease swelling
This modality may be added as part of regular physiotherapy care.
We value the importance of interdisciplinary care. Our team of physiotherapists, massage therapists, athletic therapists, kinesiologists and chiropractors work together to provide patients with the most effective care.
